Polymer clay is really durable once baked and won’t crack or get scratched or damaged. It would only be if you used other clay types (eg quick dry clay which is more brittle) or paints on top of the clay which can be scratches where you would have to worry about durability.
Amazing work this has inspired me to try and take up making my own plushies. Though I think I will start a little more simple maybe a cactuar first 🙂 keep up the great work!!

You may be able to use polymorph plastic if you want it to be shiny. Dont quote me on this, I’ve never made a bear or anything, but it seems like it would work.

I am in love with your trico. I moved to Boston from the Midwest, Cleveland. I miss my hometown and my family so much, I want to drink bleach. My husband is trying to make me feel a bit better, so he said he will help me buy as much plushie materials as possible. As long as it makes me smile again, like the way I used to. I just spent 46 hours watching him play the game on PS4. Trico has filled me with so much joy, he reminds me of Falcore. Which one day, I would like to make. Anyway, sorry to bore you. I am not completely sure how to cut the mouth hole like do I completely cut it or how should I leave a seam to put in the mouth? If I completely cut it wouldn’t the stitching be showing?

I'm currently maing one for my husband (who actually has the minion, and then will have two while I have none xD), but I have zero experience with making plushies.. So I'm having trouble with two parts: how to I sew in the pink mouth? Do I cut right to the border on the light-colored fabric and then somehow sew it on? Because I can't see how to turn the fabric inside out, so I'm a bit lost there.. Also I'm not sure where the long-ish piece (template page 2, bottom right, below the mouth) goes, I guess it's for the tail?
Anyhow, any help would be greatly appreciated, so I can finish this one (before I make a better one once I finally find the correct fabric (I only found felt-like fabric, nothing even close to the colors I need in a fabric like what you used)).

Leave a seam for both mouth and mouth hole. I will update the tutorial to make this clearer (hopefully with pictures). The long piece is the last part of the body – it didn’t all fit on the one page. I’ll update the download too to make this more obvious.
Thank you so much for the template! I am a beginner plushie maker and wondered if you had any tips for fitting the mouth piece? Also, is your original bean scaled up at all from the template? I tried a test run of hand-sewing the mouth piece into the mouth hole and it…sort of worked, but the wrong side looks like a nightmare. I wondered if the pattern was intended to be scaled up a bit so that the hole wasn’t so small. Or maybe snipping shallow notches into the curve would help? I’ll fiddle with it more, but figured I’d ask.
Leave a seam allowance on both pieces, and clip both here and there to the seam line. This will allow you to turn up the seam allowance and sew the pink mouth in. This is what I did, at least.
I made this for my husband for Christmas, but it didn’t turn out the same shape as yours, unfortunately. It turned out a lot taller and skinnier. Is the template provided the same as the one you used for your chonk?
Afraid I’m not making any to sell but a couple of people have asked if they can use the template to sell at conventions/Etsy so you might find someone else making one.

Thank you! I have the template for the body stored somewhere but I’m pretty use I winged the cloak at the time so not sure how the template would end up. I’ll post about it if I’m able to give it a look.
Could you please clarify which way the stretch is going for the cut pieces? I’ve cut one and put it together, but the shape of the plush isn’t as round and plump as in the photos.. The mouth also doesn’t look as wide, even though I cut a pink piece out with seams & attached it to the face. It’s still very narrow and tear drop shaped and not very triangular like in your photos. Appreciate any advice you could provide! Thank you. 🙂

I got a Brother Innovis V3 in the end. It was pricier than I was originally set out to pay but I figured I’m not going to ever upgrade so I may as well get something that does everything I want. This had the bigger sewing area than the Brother Innovis 800E, which also seemed really great.
I don’t know any much more than that, other than to not go for the Singer combi machines. My regular sewing machine is Singer and it’s great, but based on all the reviews their embroidery machines aren’t great.
Your Concrete Genie collection is astounding. Is there anyway to purchase these or commission one? Our family is going nuts for this game and there’s little to no merch. Congrats on the great work.
I am very shy and don’t normally comment on anything like this, but this Trico Plush is absolutely amazing! You have really caught all of its features. Super work! I have a son who has autism and is obsessed with Trico. I have had to sew wings from other toys onto some of his other animal teddies and made tin foil horn headbands to try and make them into Trico, but it is not the same. He is desperate for a Trico plush, which is just impossible to get hold of in the UK that doesn’t have clay feet (it would be well cuddled and he would be heartbroken if they broke)!! If you do ever sell them, or make a tutorial or release a pattern then I would be very grateful if you would email me please. Tha k you very much and well done again. Best wishes.
wonderful plushie you have set up here! And as the others I’m grateful about the pattern and all but somehow it feels like, especially the font part doesnt have the right sizes like on the pictures, the mouth hole on your pictures is wider at the bottom. Overall the Front part seems to be a lot wider than the pattern shows, i would really appreciate if you could check them again..

The recommended material is Shannon plush which has little stretch up/down but a lot of stretch from side to side. When you stuff the body it will fill out to the correct proportions.

Just wondering, do use use a sewing machine, or hand sew? If you hand sew, what stitch did you use?
Everything is hand sewn. I use a backstitch for most of my sewing and an invisible stitch for the seams when finishing up.
will you post how to make doduo and weepinbell’s head?

I am in shock about your trico and I love it doo much it looks so fine and so neat and I love it to bits the game was amazing by the way I love how you can interact with trico and feed him and tell him where to go . I am not completely sure how to cut the mouth hole like do I completely cut it or how should I leave a seam to put in the mouth? If I completely cut it wouldn’t the stitching be showing?

I'm currently maing one for my husband (who actually has the minion, and then will have two while I have none xD), but I have zero experience with making plushies.. So I'm having trouble with two parts: how to I sew in the pink mouth? Do I cut right to the border on the light-colored fabric and then somehow sew it on? Because I can't see how to turn the fabric inside out, so I'm a bit lost there.. Also I'm not sure where the long-ish piece (template page 2, bottom right, below the mouth) goes, I guess it's for the tail?
Anyhow, any help would be greatly appreciated, so I can finish this one (before I make a better one once I finally find the correct fabric (I only found felt-like fabric, nothing even close to the colors I need in a fabric like what you used)).

Leave a seam for both mouth and mouth hole. I will update the tutorial to make this clearer (hopefully with pictures). The long piece is the last part of the body – it didn’t all fit on the one page. I’ll update the download too to make this more obvious.

Thank you so much for the template! I am a beginner plushie maker and wondered if you had any tips for fitting the mouth piece? Also, is your original bean scaled up at all from the template? I tried a test run of hand-sewing the mouth piece into the mouth hole and it…sort of worked, but the wrong side looks like a nightmare. I wondered if the pattern was intended to be scaled up a bit so that the hole wasn’t so small. Or maybe snipping shallow notches into the curve would help? I’ll fiddle with it more, but figured I’d ask.
Leave a seam allowance on both pieces, and clip both here and there to the seam line. This will allow you to turn up the seam allowance and sew the pink mouth in. This is what I did, at least.
Any thoughts to adding pictures about the mouth. The instructions are a bit difficult to follow on that part.

I made this for my husband for Christmas, but it didn’t turn out the same shape as yours, unfortunately. It turned out a lot taller and skinnier. Is the template provided the same as the one you used for your chonk?
Do you sell these magnificent plushs? My sewing skills are non existent but to have his Mighty Wiggly one for my wife would be awesome.

Thank you! I have the template for the body stored somewhere but I’m pretty use I winged the cloak at the time so not sure how the template would end up. I’ll post about it if I’m able to give it a look.
Could you please clarify which way the stretch is going for the cut pieces? I’ve cut one and put it together, but the shape of the plush isn’t as round and plump as in the photos.. The mouth also doesn’t look as wide, even though I cut a pink piece out with seams & attached it to the face. It’s still very narrow and tear drop shaped and not very triangular like in your photos. Appreciate any advice you could provide! Thank you. 🙂

I got a Brother Innovis V3 in the end. It was pricier than I was originally set out to pay but I figured I’m not going to ever upgrade so I may as well get something that does everything I want. This had the bigger sewing area than the Brother Innovis 800E, which also seemed really great.
I don’t know any much more than that, other than to not go for the Singer combi machines. My regular sewing machine is Singer and it’s great, but based on all the reviews their embroidery machines aren’t great.

I am very shy and don’t normally comment on anything like this, but this Trico Plush is absolutely amazing! You have really caught all of its features. Super work! I have a son who has autism and is obsessed with Trico. I have had to sew wings from other toys onto some of his other animal teddies and made tin foil horn headbands to try and make them into Trico, but it is not the same. He is desperate for a Trico plush, which is just impossible to get hold of in the UK that doesn’t have clay feet (it would be well cuddled and he would be heartbroken if they broke)!! If you do ever sell them, or make a tutorial or release a pattern then I would be very grateful if you would email me please. Tha k you very much and well done again. Best wishes.

wonderful plushie you have set up here! And as the others I’m grateful about the pattern and all but somehow it feels like, especially the font part doesnt have the right sizes like on the pictures, the mouth hole on your pictures is wider at the bottom. Overall the Front part seems to be a lot wider than the pattern shows, i would really appreciate if you could check them again..

The recommended material is Shannon plush which has little stretch up/down but a lot of stretch from side to side. When you stuff the body it will fill out to the correct proportions.
